Much more powerful than its predecessor, the Integrated 1, the new model puts out up to 145 watts per channel. It's 24dB power-amp circuitry is entirely solid-state and is designed around the latest generation of Motorola bipolar devices. The 15dB preamplifier section, however, is an all-tube design, using two mil-spec Russian 6922's. Replacement cost of these tubes, which are rated for a life cycle of at least 5,000 hours (approximately 5 years in typical use), is a mere $35.00 (US).

EXPANDABILITY: The preamp design incorporates custom-designed gold-plated Teflon RCA jacks and a coin-silver mil-spec selector switch for four inputs (CD, Tuner, and two sets of AUX) plus both a tape-monitor loop (inputs and outputs, plus switching) and a surround sound processor (SSP) bypass loop. The latter function, together with its pre-out and main-in jacks, makes it possible to use the preamp and power-amp sections entirely separately, should that be desirable. This gives the user the option of adding a larger amp later or bi-amping.

FRONT PANEL FEATURES: Additional front panel controls include switches for mode (mono/stereo), muting, and power (on/off); volume and balance controls; and a headphone jack. The volume pot is motorized so that it can be driven from the supplied remote, which also controls the mute and SSP bypass switching, functions which are offered as momentary switches on the front panel. A front panel LED indicates status: 45 second turn-on mute (low green), normal operation (high green), muting (flasing green), and SSP bypass (orange).

BUILD QUALITY: Build quality is outstanding throughout. Capacitors are MultiCap and Wima metallized polypropelene. Holco and Draloric 0.5% metal-film resistors are used. RCA jacks are custom designs using Teflon and gold materials. A Noble balance pot and Kimber interconnect wiring are among the premium parts used in this design.
